Colton is one of the older towns in the valley. It grew up around the railroad, and the streets near downtown and in South Colton still have early bungalows and cottages with wood siding, wood windows and many layers of old paint. On those houses the prep is most of the work, and any home built before 1978 may have lead in the old layers. Cooley Ranch, Reche Canyon and the La Loma Hills have newer stucco homes.
