Most San Bernardino homes have textured walls, and many from the 1950s to the 1980s still have popcorn ceilings. Both change how a room is prepped and painted. We patch and match the texture, prime the repairs and paint walls, ceilings and trim with clean lines.
Inside a San Bernardino house the walls are rarely smooth. Most have an orange peel or knockdown texture sprayed over drywall, and older homes near downtown can have hard plaster. Texture hides small flaws, but it also drinks more paint and makes a clean line at the ceiling slower to cut. We look at each room before we price it: the wall texture, the ceiling height, old patches that flash through, and stains from a past roof or plumbing leak.
The job itself follows a set order. Furniture goes to the middle of the room and is covered, and floors are protected. We fill nail holes and dents, repair cracks, re-texture the patches so they blend, and spot prime them. Stains get a stain-blocking primer so they do not bleed back. Ceilings are painted first, then walls, then doors, baseboards and window sills in a harder enamel. Two coats is normal when the color changes.
Summer heat helps and hurts indoors. Paint dries fast in a hot, dry house, which is good for recoating but can leave lap marks if a wall is not kept wet edge to edge. We work one wall at a time and keep the air conditioning running where we can. Most water-based wall paints have little smell. Interior painting in San Bernardino: common questions
Can you match the texture on my walls after a repair?

Yes. Orange peel and knockdown are the two textures we see most in San Bernardino homes, and both can be matched on a patch. The patch is then primed, so it does not show as a dull or shiny spot under the new paint.
Do I have to leave the house while the inside is painted?
No. Most customers stay home. We paint a few rooms at a time, so you keep a bedroom and the kitchen in use. Tell us about pets, small children or anyone sensitive to smells and we will plan around them.
Will you paint the ceilings too, or only the walls?
Either. The written quote lists ceilings, walls, doors, baseboards and closets as separate items, so you choose. If the ceiling is old popcorn texture that has never been painted, we talk about testing before any work on it.
